Santander Buy-to-Let Mortgages

Santander is rapidly becoming one of the most recognised names on the high street, thanks to its recent takeover of Abbey, Alliance & Leicester and Bradford & Bingley. Santander currently offers a range of buy-to-let mortgages that are ideal whether you are new to property investment or require a remortgage or additional borrowing. They will allow investment up to £5m.

Santander Buy to Let Criteria:

  • You may borrow up to 75% of the property’s value.
  • Lending ranges from £25,000 through to £1m per property.
  • Rental income must be at least 125% of the repayment value (on an interest only basis).
  • Property aimed at the student market must home no more than 3 students.
  • Holiday lets are allowed but the property must have been a holiday let for the previous three years or more.

The buy-to-let mortgages available with Santander are varied, meaning you can choose the mortgage that’s right for you. Deals are available on the following types of mortgage:

  • Fixed
  • Tracker
  • Offset

My wife and I have a mortgage with Santander of around 120k. Our property is valued in the region of 200k-220k. We are thinking of buying a 2 bed coachhouse to let. Its priced at 115k, under market value. We were wondering if we could take 30k from our existing property and using that capital as a deposit on the new property as a buy to let. We would revenue £550+pcm on the rental. Would welcome any information that you feel would be helpful.
